Learn More About the Admissions Process at Hidden River

First impressions are important, especially at eating disorder treatment centers. When an individual feels safe, welcome, and comfortable at the start of treatment, it can make a world of difference.

We recognize that entering a treatment program can be stressful. Opening up to strangers isn’t exactly natural. Meeting new people may be exhausting. Undergoing assessments can be uncomfortable. At Hidden River, we understand how unusual and difficult the admission process can be. This is why each detail of the admissions process has received careful attention, so we can help to ensure that every person who walks through our doors immediately experiences the warmth of our team.

Our admissions process is highly personalized and modified for everyone.

Treatment isn’t one-size-fits-all, and neither is the admissions process. To start, you’ll speak with a member of the Outreach and Admissions team, who will be your primary point of contact throughout the entire admission process. This begins with your first inquiry and continues to the day of admission. The initial stage of the admission process will include questions about your background, previous treatment experiences, and personal goals. Through a collaborative conversation, you’ll explore whether Hidden River is a good fit for you and your treatment needs. This step is called an intake

During your intake and at any point throughout the admission experience, you can ask questions about treatment. Common questions we get asked are:

  • What’s the team like?
  • What types of therapy do you offer?
  • What are the other patients like, and how will I fit in?

These are all great questions, and we encourage you to ask as many questions as you need. We know that it can be scary to enter a treatment program, so we want to distill that feeling of anticipation by sharing as much information as possible.

Our team can keep communication through phone calls and emails. We can also provide tours of the exterior of the facility. Your family members are welcome to speak with us, as they’ll be a key part of your treatment.

If you would like to move onto the next step, you’ll begin working with another member of our Admissions team.

While most treatment centers have large call centers that send you mountains of paperwork and may have numerous people take your information, Hidden River has one primary point of contact for you and the family. This one staff member will help you complete the often-overwhelming administrative parts of entering a treatment program. Some individuals feel comfortable filling out insurance forms or requesting lab work from their primary care provider, but others need guidance. That’s where the expertise of our team comes in to support you. We’ll give you space to complete the paperwork on your own if you want, or we’ll sit with you and go item-by-item to ensure you answer each question appropriately.

By supporting you through this part of the process, you can focus on getting ready to join the program. We want to make the admission process as easy as possible – because your attention belongs on your healing journey, not on checking the right boxes.

After your intake occurs, you’re ready to join the program!

Our staff will continue to make sure you feel welcome in our space, which is a gorgeous property in northern New Jersey. Be sure to check out our greenhouse or the frisbee golf course!

We do things a little differently at Hidden River, and we can’t wait to show you how much we care about your recovery. Not only do we prioritize family involvement in your treatment, but we strive to treat you like family with the respect, compassion, and kindness that you deserve.
