December Staff Spotlight: Jamela Meziane

For this month’s Staff Spotlight blog post, we’re excited to introduce you to Jamela Meziane, our December Employee of the Month and a Recovery Assistant at Hidden River. 

Let’s get to know Jamela Meziane!

How long have you been with Hidden River? 

I’ve been employed at Hidden River for five-and-a-half months.

What’s your favorite quote?

Isaiah 41:10 from the Bible: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Name some things you are passionate about in your free time.

In my free time, I volunteer as a youth leader and worship leader for the teens at my church. I sing and play guitar for leisure and for my church family. I also love to read and spend time with family and friends.

What’s one thing or place on your bucket list?

I have a few places on my bucket list! The top two places I’d like to visit are Morocco and Israel. I am Moroccan and have family in Morocco. My dad was born and raised in Morocco, so I technically have dual citizenship in Morocco and the States. I’d love to travel to Israel because it is beautiful, and I’d like to visit the places that are staples in my Christian faith.

How did you get started in this field? 

When studying social work, I developed an interest in eating disorders. Working at Hidden River is my first experience working with this population, and I feel blessed to work here!

What is your favorite part of your workday?

My favorite part of the workday is playing games and laughing with the patients. The patients work so hard for their recovery, so any chance they get to laugh and enjoy themselves is rewarding for me. 

What’s the best part about working at Hidden River?

The best part about working at Hidden River is working with the patients and the staff. They are the best of the best – I truly enjoy working here. 

What do you think makes our team culture unique?

I have never worked with such caring staff. They truly care for the patients and go above and beyond to provide the best care for them.
