The best treatment I have ever been to

Hidden River was the best treatment I have ever been to. After experiencing months of some of the most abusive treatments in my life— they not only helped me overcome my eating disorder, but the trauma from my past treatments. The staff here is excellent. Committed to and passionate

The staff at Hidden River is knowledgeable, available, responsive, caring and compassionate, to both the patients and their families. Our daughter’s therapist was exceptional, achieving a level of understanding and compassion with our daughter that no other therapist has achieved. She also took the time to teach us how to best support our daughter, and helped us understand how and why taking a less active role could be most effective. She taught us this difficult lesson with unmatched compassion and understanding of how difficult parenting can be. The nursing staff is very knowledgeable and available 24 hours per day. The nurses did an excellent job explaining things to me from both a medical and mental health perspective. They were compassionate to both my daughter and to me. From my first phone call to Hidden River to my daughter’s last day there, it was evident that Hidden River was committed to and passionate about helping patients recover from eating disorders. We feel very blessed that Hidden River played a critical role in our daughter’s recovery.

Truly changed my life

Hidden River truly changed my life. I was seen as more than just an eating disorder. I was a person whose overall health and wellness was sincerely cared about. Progressive and cutting edge

The therapeutic process at Hidden River is progressive and cutting edge. It’s a family therapy model and that part is hard. You have to be willing to look at yourself, your family system and what role you’ve played in your daughter’s mental health. But, I can’t imagine true recovery without that level of digging. The primary therapists are amazing. The Registered Dieticians are so knowledgeable. We are deeply grateful to her team. They all chose a very difficult line of work. For our family, they offered a lifeline when we needed it most.

Meet the clients where they are at…

I had such a wonderful experience visiting Hidden River. It has been a long time since I have had a site visit to a residential program, and I was so impressed. The program is structured enough for clients to feel safe, yet flexible enough to meet their individual needs. In addition to the program’s structure being well thought out, the physical environment is stunning. I believe it is important that people feel cared for and nurtured in their recovery. Both the program structure and the physical environment at Hidden River does this beautifully. I met with the staff and was impressed by their commitment to care. Not only did I feel that the staff were creative, but they also really seemed to enjoy their work. I think the goal of a good residential program is to meet the clients where they are at and also believe in their capacity for change. In summary, I thought the site visit was very helpful, and I would recommend Hidden River to others. I also believe that, if the program is not the right fit, Hidden River will be honest and inform the client if some other service would be more appropriate.

The holistic approach to care…

My overall impression was that the space is incredibly peaceful and calm, and a perfect space to experience healing. Every staff member was so inviting and friendly, and the residential rooms were incredibly beautiful and clean. The holistic approach to care, as well as the culinary skills training both stood out to me as unique and distinguished features of the program.

Tranquil and thoughtful…

It really made a difference for me to be able to come and see the Hidden River facility in person. I was able to get a feel for how tranquil and thoughtful of a space it is. I can now picture my clients attending and working towards their recovery. I think this will be especially helpful when it comes to sending a teen to an out-of-state facility because I'll be able to better describe exactly what Hidden River is like to nervous teens and their parents. I most of all appreciated meeting the Hidden River staff and getting the time to speak with them in a formal and more informal setting. All of the staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and seemed committed to providing the best possible care for their clients. Their commitment felt genuine, which feels rare these days.

The perfect environment for healing…

I have traveled to and spoken at treatment centers around the country, and I honestly was so impressed with Hidden River. The leadership team was outstanding in their experience, dedication, and philosophy. The presentations were informative, and the tour was impressive. The setting was so serene and seems like just the perfect environment for healing. Having a true campus with historic buildings is quite different from the many treatment centers I have visited that were literally office buildings in a corporate complex. I enjoyed the incredible hospitality and time with everyone.
